Our History

Basilico is owned and operated by Arlindo Campello and Persio Moraes. Both were previously involved in Importation and distribution of Italian Wines in Washington State. They came from Italy to Olympia in early 2000. They brought with them their passion and knowledge for Italian food and wine and that has alone made Basilico the first true authentic upscale Italian restaurant in Olympia.

 

We Brought Italy to You!

Arlindo Campello with his history as a world traveler, developed several skills with small businesses including owning a couple of restaurants in the late eighties and a fashion accessories Company in Italy, before deciding to come to the USA. Here in Washington he founded a small company as a distributor of Italian wines called Chosen Grapes. Having sold that Company, Basilico Ristorante Italiano became his next Venture.

Persio Moraes Arlindo’s son has studied at the College of Accounting in Italy. He came to the USA to join his father in the Wine business, where he became the bookkeeper and expanded his interest in and knowledge of Italian wines. He is now in charge of all accounting at Basilico and he is also one of our best servers during the weekend.

His friendly energy and smile are very contagious!
